BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — A 35-year-old man accused of taking a girl from Connecticut across state lines for prostitution has pleaded guilty to sex trafficking of a minor.
Bruce Damico entered the guilty plea Monday in federal court in Bridgeport. Damico has lived in Hartford, Conn.; Providence, R.I.; and New York City and has been detained since his arrest by Bloomfield, Conn. police in January 2010.
Federal prosecutors say Damico recruited, harbored and transported women and girls to engage in prostitution. He admitted in pleading guilty that he knowingly employed a girl who was under the age of 18, and authorities say he posted pictures of her on the Internet to advertise her prostitution services.
Damico faces a minimum of 10 years in prison and a maximum life term at sentencing.
