NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) — A Connecticut man free on $1 million bond after being charged with fatally shooting his new wife has been returned to jail for allegedly threatening to kill someone.
The Day of New London reports that Chihan "Eric" Chyung was returned to custody Tuesday.
He's charged with murder in the 2009 shooting of Paige Bennett, his wife of three weeks. He told police his handgun fired accidentally.
Chyung's bond was increased by $250,000 on Tuesday after the judge learned he was arrested earlier this month in Norwalk. Prosecutors say he was charged with second-degree threatening in a dispute over a generator.
Defense lawyer Brian Woolf says Chyung has been "100 percent compliant" with conditions of his release and that being jailed again will hinder his help preparing his defense.
