HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A 36-year-old Bloomfield woman is accused of hiring hit man to kill her estranged husband.

The Hartford Courant reports Tiffany Stevens entered a not guilty plea in Hartford Superior Court Tuesday morning to a charge of inciting injury.

Prosecutors allege she paid a maintenance man $5,000 to kill Eric Stevens. She was arrested on July 13 after that maintenance man went to police with a 22-minute recording of a conversation in which Stevens can be heard asking him when her husband will be "taken out."

Prosecutors say the couple had been involved in a custody dispute over their 7-year-old daughter.
