GROTON, Conn. (AP) — A Groton woman has been charged by police over an attack by her pit bull in which a 74-year-old man was injured and his dog was killed.
Erika Santrock was charged last week by Groton police following an investigation into the Aug. 28 attack.
The Day of New London reports that Ralph Conwell was walking his silk terrier, Lacy, when he said the pit bull came charging at him and his dog. Conwell was hospitalized and his terrier was killed.
Santrock faces charges of annoyance by a dog on a highway, owning or harboring a dog to create a nuisance and failure to license a dog. The 35-year-old woman is free on a promise to appear later in court.
The pit bull involved in the attack was euthanized.
