Vernon, Conn. (WTNH) - A Rockville man is facing assault charges after police say he beat an 11-week-old baby. The child is recovering from severe injuries, including broken bones and brain hemorrhaging.
Just over two months ago the baby was taken to the hospital with critical injuries that included a fractured skull, fifteen fractured ribs and other broken bones.
"He is a very caring and loving person to everybody, especially his children,” Michael Bousher described his brother.
Police have charged 24-year-old Jeremy Bousher with assault, risk of injury to a minor and cruelty to persons.
Michael Bousher says baby Breanna was cold and non-responsive on the day she ended up in the intensive care unit.
"I took her out of the car seat and tried to get her temperature and it was pretty low. She didn't look blue or nothing, but it was real low,” he explained. “So I got a heating pad and I have a bassinet because I am expecting children , as well. So I bundled her up best I could."
Police say Jeremy Bousher has a criminal record and has current cases pending in court.
Police say they expect another arrest in the case.
Detective James Grady told News 8: “The baby is in the custody of DCF in a foster home not in custody of its mother."
Boucher is in police custody. A Vernon court judge set his bail at $40,000 bond.
