GRANBY, Conn. (AP) - Granby officials have agreed to pay $30,000 to a former police captain charged in a federal child pornography case in exchange for his resignation.
Former Capt. David Bourque was arrested in April after federal authorities say they found thousands of child pornography images and videos on his personal computer. He also faces a marijuana possession charge in state court.
The 51-year-old Bourque has resigned after having been on paid administrative leave since his arrest. Town officials say they would have had to continue paying his $86,000 annual salary while his court cases were pending. The $30,000 deal includes compensation for accrued vacation time and sick days.
Bourque's lawyer says his client didn't produce any child porn and calls the case "voyeurism at its worst." Bourque is free on $150,000 bail.
