BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) -- A Bridgeport teen is in cuffs after police say he threatened to open fire at his school. Now parents and students are on edge.

Police moved quickly making the arrest within hours but students News 8 spoke to say they hadn't heard about it at school today.

Police say a student made statements on Facebook around 10 p.m. he would kill fellow students and he was serious.

"I thought it was terrible," said Donald Fountain a parent.

"Well, I'm surprised. It's shocking," said Senior Ashley Aquino.

"I'm concerned especially with everything that happened with Sandy Hook," said Junior Demere Hunt Stephens.

Police say they take any threats against the school very seriously. That's why they went to the student's house and arrested him. They did not find any weapons but parents and students News 8 spoke to say they're still concerned about how the situation was handled.

"No we didn't get any call in regards to a threat to the school. That's unacceptable. At all times we expect our children to be safe," said Chimere Hunt a parent.

One family was coming home from basketball practice and they say they'll typically get a phone call about news like this at the school.

"They should have gave some type of notice to all the parents," said Donald Fountain.

Police saw the post after it was shown to school resource officers and parents. They say no other children are behind the threat.

This quick action by police was a relief to hear.

"I'm glad that they did, you know, that they made a quick arrest, that's a wonderful thing. We don't need stuff like that happening to our children," said Hunt.
