NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A Seymour man was arrested after police caught him street racing in New Haven.

Police say they saw "up to 100 tricked out whips," lined up for racing on Sergeant Drive/ Long Wharf Drive around midnight Wednesday night.

Officers say they took off after two cars that were racing down Canal Dock Road. Police cruisers closed off the road at the other end, forcing the race to stop.

A confused racer in a red car actually helped police box in the other car.

As a result, police arrested 22-year-old Sammy Cruz Jr. He was charged with reckless driving and street racing. His grey 2003 Infinity G35 was towed and impounded.
