Cops: Drunk man charged with kidnapping

FARMINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- A Farmington man was arrested at a local beach after he allegedly cornered a young girl and touched her inappropriately.

Somewhere at the beach which was packed with children, police say 56-year-old Mark Tully was harassing two 13-year-old girls and a 7-year-old girl Monday afternoon.

One of the 13-year-old's tells police Tully tried to take off the other teen's bathing suit and touched her in the chest area. That was after he shoved her into the corner of the building where the restrooms are.

Police say he was caught with two bottles of booze.

He was arrested and faces charges including first degree kidnapping, third degree sexual assault, three counts of risk of injury to a minor, second degree unlawful restraint, and second degree breach of peace.

"We come here all the time and I have two little kids," said Jane Rourke, member. "It's definitely very surprising cause I never felt unsafe here or for my kids being here."

Rourke says Winding Trails is a private club with a waiting list to get in. You have to show ID to get in.

There is pretty much no way to sneak in, but members say you are allowed to bring a guest on occasion. In this case, News 8 learned Tully was no guest. He is a member of the club.

"We had a notification that there was a member here at Winding Trails that apparently did something in appropriate to a few young ladies," said Tabitha Mooney, member.

Winding Trails Executive Director, Scott Brown tells News 8 they wanted members to know what's going on, so they sent an e-mail.

Mooney and others were glad it wasn't kept quiet, especially after what police had to say.

"Oh God...that's very scary," Mooney said. "I didn't realize the extent of it."

"I'm hoping he's on a list and never going to come back here again," said Rourke.

Brown says Tully's membership has been revoked. He's proud of how the staff and members handled the situation.
