WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (WTNH) -- An elderly man was arrested after a loaded 9mm handgun was discovered in his luggage at Bradley International Airport Tuesday.
Police said 81-year-old Joseph Hunt, of Florida, sent what appeared to be a firearm in a piece of luggage through a TSA baggage check point at the airport.
TSA intercepted the bag, and police discovered the loaded handgun and additional ammunition.
According to police, Hunt did hold a valid Florida concealed firearms permit, it does not apply in Connecticut.
Additionally, Hunt did not attempt to alert the airline or TSA at check-in of the weapon.
Hunt was charged with circumventing airport security and carrying a pistol without a permit.
He was held on $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on August 15th in Enfield.
