WESTPORT, Conn. (WTNH) -- Police are searching for two suspects who were able to get away after they were spotted trying to break into a Westport business.
An officer on patrol spotted two men wearing hooded sweatshirts walking in front of the stores at 877 Post Road East. The officer said one of the men had a pry bar in his hand.
The pair took off in a a white Dodge mini-van bearing New York plates after they spotted the officer driving by.
The van lead officers on a chase along 195 south to I-95 south into New York. During the chase, the van struck and damaged two police cruisers.
The van eventually crashed in Portchester, New York, but the pair were able to flee on foot before they could be arrested.
In addition to searching for the suspects, police are looking at possible links between the men and two other burglaries at Mitchells of Westport back in February 2012.
