PLAINFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) -- Nearly 2 months after a man stole a cash register from the National Food Mart in Plainfield officers have arrested the driver of the getaway car.

Witness told police that on March 21 around 10 p.m. a white man entered the store on Railroad Avenue and took off with the cash register. He headed to Babcock Avenue where a car was waiting for him.

Police say 23-year-old Bridgette Tregaskis was the driver of that car.

The register was later tossed off the exit 88 on-ramp of I-395.

According to police, Tregaskis gave a sworn statement, but accused an innocent person for the theft.

Tregaskis was charged with second degree conspiracy to commit larceny, second degree larceny, third degree hindering prosecution, interfering with a police officer and second degree false statement.

She was held at the Plainfield Police Department on a $50,000 bond and will appear at Danielson Superior Court on May 18.

The suspect who stole the register has not yet been arrested.
