HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A North Haven man was arrested after police say he fired a gun at two people sitting in a parked car.

The two victims told police they were sitting in the car in the area of 235 Park Road in Hamden Tuesday night around 8:30 p.m. when a man drove up to them and fired a single shot.

The bullet was lodged in the car door.

The victims fled the area and called police about an hour and a half later.

Police were able to identify the suspect as 42-year-old Howard Wilson. Hamden, North Haven and the Connecticut State Police arrived at Wilson's home on Quinnipiac Avenue in North Haven in an effort to arrest him, but they determined he was not there.

Officers were eventually able to contact Wilson, and after hours of negotiation, he turned himself in.

He was charged with criminal attempt to commit assault, unlawful discharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, reckless endangerment and carrying a pistol without a permit. Wilson was detained at police headquarters on a $250,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 8.
