MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- A 25-year-old naked man was shot in the chest after allegedly breaking in and trying to rob a home in Milford.

Benjamin Prue is in critical condition at Yale New Haven Hospital after he was shot in the chest by a 67-year-old man.

The man called police around 10 p.m. Saturday night to report Prue had broken into his house on Point Lookout and was trying to steal a television set.

The resident told police he pleaded with Prue to leave his home, but when a fight broke out, the man shot Prue in the chest.

Officers found Prue in the water a short distance from the home.

A neighbor told News 8 the homeowner did have some noticeable injuries.

"I think the man was hurting him," said Linda Chaffin. "I think the man was hurting him, he had some lacerations, he had a bite, I think the man was hurting him. I don't think the man was in his right mind at all, like maybe he was crazy already or maybe he was on drugs and crazy, I don't know, but he wasn't well.

Police also found Prue's car with it's truck open a near the home. Inside police found crack cocaine and paraphernalia used to ingest it, which were seized as evidence.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Chacon the Milford Police Detective Division at (203) 877-1465.
