STAMFORD, Conn. (Stamford Advocate) -- The treasurer of the Stamford Young Timers Basketball League was arrested Tuesday morning for stealing just over $29,000 in league funds.
Michael Lanuk, 31, of 56 Stuart Ave., Norwalk, was charged with first-degree larceny and released on $1,500 bond.
Police said an official from the league who reported the missing money to police on Dec. 31, 2011, said that he believed Lanuk had a gambling problem.
Lanuk's name can be found on various gambling web sites listing where he placed in various poker tournaments.
