Cops: Mother videotaped child abuse

WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A West Haven woman was arrested after she sent videos of herself tormenting her 10-month-old child to the baby's father.

Kellie Park, 20, faces charges of risk of injury, third degree assault, cruelty to persons and second degree threatening.

Officials say Park texted videos of herself tormenting, berating and assaulting her child to the baby's father, who immediately contacted police.

According to police, in one video Park is heard saying, "eat stuff off the floor, this is what your dad wants to make me do." In another, Park is shown throwing food at the child. She is also shown shaking a pack and play portable crib until the baby falls out, saying "shake it up."

The baby is screaming and crying in the videos, police say.

The baby's father also released to police several text messages he received from Park. One said "I'll break the baby's face," and another reads "I love abusing your kid."

Police say they were alerted to the texts and videos on the same day Park attempted to commit suicide. Police immediately took custody of the baby, who was evaluated at the hospital and then placed in the care of DCF.

Park was arrested in New Haven on June 20, after she was released from the hospital. The following day, she appeared in court where she was given a $50,000 surety bond.
