Cops: Naked man attacked woman, child

WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- Police were called to Homeside Avenue in West Haven to investigate reports that a naked man was chasing and attacking a woman and her daughter.

The officers were called 78 Homeside Avenue around 1:20 p.m. Monday afternoon to investigate several reports that a naked man was attacking a woman in the street.

Once on the scene, they were confronted by Lawrence Jones, 47. Police say Jones was combative and they believed he was under the influence of a narcotic. They tasered him after he failed to listen to their commands.

The officers discovered the woman had been struck by a car and she was lying in the street.

Several witnesses told police they saw Jones hit the woman's 9-year-old daughter in the face when she tried to help her mother.

Both the daughter and the woman were taken to a local hospital to be treated.

Jones was arrested and charged with several counts of assault, risk of injury to a child and disorderly conduct.
