SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- A state corrections officer was arrested on accusations he tried to bring illegal narcotics into the Cheshire Correctional Institution.
Arcolain Fountain, 46, was arrested after officers saw him buying narcotics in the commuter lot of I-84 at exit 28 in Southington on Tuesday. He was arrested on the scene.
In addition to the narcotics, police also seized Fountain's 2001 Suzuki motorcycle and his personal handguns found in his East Haven home.
The investigating into Fountain began in March when officials discovered a corrections officer was trying to get illegal narcotics into the Cheshire Correctional Institution.
Fountain faces charges of criminal attempt to convey unauthorized items into a correctional facility, criminal attempt to possess narcotics, and criminal attempt to possess a hallucinogenic.
He was held on $100,000 cash or surety bond and will appear in Meriden Court on Wednesday.
