LEDYARD, Conn. (WTNH) -- An Elvis impersonator and his girlfriend were arrested after police say they left their two kids alone in a hotel room for over an hour.
Police found the two children, ages 2 and 7-months-old, left unattended in a room at the Two Trees Hotel on Indiantown Road in Ledyard around 2:50 a.m. Wednesday morning.
A half hour after police arrived, the children's mother, Deborah Hundley, 27, arrived and told officers she was outside smoking and she was gone for only 10 minutes.
However, video surveillance showed she left the room at 2 a.m. and returned a little over an hour later.
Surveillance also showed the children's father, 22-year-old Tyler Hunter was last seen passing by the door to the room, but not entering, at 12:04 a.m.
Hunter, an Elvis Presley impersonator working for the Legends Concert series, was belligerent with officers and demanded a fast resolution so he could get some sleep.
Hundley told police is would be bad publicity if Hunter he were to be arrested, so she asked officer to put all the charges on her.
Hunter and Hundley were both arrested and charged with risk of injury to a child. Hunter was also charged with risk of impairing the morals of a child.
The Department of Children and Families has temporary custody of the children and judge is ordering both parents back to court on Friday.
Hunter's manager says he is not returning to the Legends cast at Foxwoods.
