NORTH STONINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- A Rhode Island man was arrested after shooting out the tires of his ex-girlfriend's vehicle and shooting at another man in North Stonington.
On Wednesday night the ex-girlfriend and the other man filed a complaint against Michael Bailey, 48, of Westerly, RI. Bailey's ex-girlfriend told police that after sending her a series of threatening text messages he showed up at a home in North Stonington to confront her.
Bailey then proceeded to shoot out the tires of her vehicle with a long gun before attempting to shoot the other man as he fled into the residence.
Police said Bailey threatened his ex-girlfriend with a knife, an altercation started, and Bailey fled the home before police arrived.
No one was injured during the altercation.
Bailey was arrested nearby several hours later.
He is charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, unlawful discharge of a firearm, carrying a firearm while under the influence, carrying a rifle in a motor vehicle, reckless endangerment, unlawful restraint, criminal mischief, two counts of threatening, and two counts of breach of peace.
Bailey was initially held on a $1 million cash bond.
He was arraigned in New London Superior Court Thursday where his bond was lowered to $49,000.
His next court date is July 31st.
