MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A woman was arrested after police say they found her passed out behind the wheel of her car with her 4-year-old daughter in the back seat.

Police say they were called to Auto Store II in Middletown around 10:15 p.m. on June 26 to investigate reports of a person passed out in a car.

Officers found a running car in front of the store, but the driver, later identified as Alanna Johnson, was sleeping in the driver's seat. It took officers several attempts to wake her up, and when they did, she had bloodshot eyes, her speech was slurred and her breath smelled of alcohol.

Police say she failed several standard field sobriety tests. At police headquarters, Johnson registered a .199 and a .201 for her blood alcohol content.

Johnson's daughter, who police guessed to be around 4-years-old, was also in the car, but she was not in a car seat and she was not wearing a seat belt.

Johnson was arrested and charged with DUI, risk of injury and transporting a child under six without child restraint system.

She was held in a holding cell until she sobered up and was then released on $2,500 non-surety bond. Her case was continued to August 12.
