CLINTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- A Clinton man and his girlfriend were arrested after the pair allegedly accosted and robbed the man's mother, who is a terminal cancer patient.

Albert J. "A.J." Monaco, 23, and his girlfriend, Emile Blaine, 23, were arrested Wednesday evening after allegedly stealing Monaco's mother's credit card.

Monaco's mother is a 56-year-old terminal cancer patient. She told police that her son and his girlfriend had accosted her and then took her credit card by force. She sustained minor bruises in the incident, but did not need medical attention.

Police found Monaco and Blaine a short time later in Madison. They were arrested and charged with third degree assault on a disabled person, disorderly conduct, third degree robbery and sixth degree larceny.

Blaine was also found in possession of several prescription pills of Methadone and Amphetamines and was charged with possession of narcotics and possession of a controlled substance.

Both were held on $5,000 bonds and will be arraigned Thursday in Middlesex Superior Court.
