NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) — A New Britain man is expected back in court following allegations he shot two supervisors at a city hospital in February.

Sixty-four-year-old Victor Valcarcel (val-CAR'-sell) has a pre-trial conference scheduled for Monday at New Britain Superior Court. He has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and assault charges and remains detained on $1.5 million bail.

Valcarcel was a maintenance worker at the Hospital for Special Care when police say he shot two supervisors on Feb. 22 after being disciplined. The victims, Robert Barucci and Lynn Trask, suffered serious injuries but survived.

Valcarcel was arrested about an hour after the shootings at his home.

His lawyer says Valcarcel is a good father and husband with no criminal record.
