Man faces max. of 125 years for fraud

Coventry (WTNH) - A Coventry man has pleaded guilty to four counts of bank fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud.

According to court documents, Justin Edwards, 27, and a co-defendant stole balance transfer checks from residence mailboxes between July 2007-March 2008.

Edwards, and others, than opened several bank accounts at various Connecticut financial institutions.

Through this scheme, Edwards, and others, deposited $188,454 in fraudulent checks and were successful in defrauding the victim banks of almost $90,000.

Edwards has a sentencing scheduled on Jan. 21, 2010. He faces a maximum term of 125 years in prison. And, he has a fine of up to $4.25 million.
