New Canaan, COnn. (WTNH) - A New Canaan man was taken into custody after a 10-hour overnight standoff with police at his home.
Scott DeiCas, 48, who police describe as a disgruntled former Weston school bus driver, was arrested at 8:30 Saturday morning at his home at 295 Ponus Ridge Road in New Canaan.
The standoff began Friday around 10:30 p.m., when Weston and New Canaan police attempted to serve an arrest warrant on DeiCas.
He refused to come out and barricaded himself in the house along with his elderly mother Wilma DeiCas. DeiCas’ mother left the home without incident around 6:30 a.m. Saturday.
After negotiations with DeiCas failed, officers from the New Canaan PD’s Special Response Team deployed a "flash bang" noise and sound explosive device entering the residence, and sent in a canine from the Greenwich Police Department.
Police said DeiCas did not resist arrest and was fully compliant. No one was injured during the incident.
Police say they went to the house to arrest him because the man had threatened to harm residents and government officials.
DeiCas is being held in police custody without bond. He is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Monday.
The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
