Bridgeport, Conn. (WTNH) - Police say a Bridgeport restaurant owner shot and killed one of two men who tried to hold up his establishment Sunday night.
The shooting happened at Peking Restaurant on Wade Street around 9:30pm. The deceased has been identified as 21-year old Allen Dixon of Bridgeport.
Police say the two would-be robbers entered the restaurant and ordered food. When the register was open, Dixon pulled out a gun, threatened the employees and reached over the counter and grabbed money from the register. Dixon then turned toward the restaurant's owner, who was sitting at a table. That's when the owner pulled out his own weapon and fired one shot at Dixon, hitting him in the chest.
We're told the owner was licensed to carry the gun.
Dixon dropped his weapon on the ground outside the restaurant before he and his accomplice fled in a car. He only made it a few blocks before he died and crashed his vehicle.
The second suspect fled from the vehicle and is still being sought.
