WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- Two people were arrested after trespassing at a vacant home in West Haven and setting a fire there Monday night.
The incident happened just before 10 p.m. Monday, when police responded to 2 Westfield St. after neighbors reported suspicious people inside a vacant home.
Upon arrival, police found a male and female inside the home and smoke coming from its interior. The home is currently boarded up and labeled uninhabitable by city housing officials, police said.
Police ordered the trespassers to leave, but only the male complied.
Police said they had to forcibly remove the female who was combative.
The fire department also responded and extinguished a small fire the two had ignited.
Sergio Rosario, 55, of Ella Grasso Blvd., New Haven, and 48-year-old Tammy Marks, of no known address, were both charged with reckless burning and criminal trespass.
Additionally, Marks was charged with failure to be fingerprinted and interfering with police. She also had outstanding warrants out of Danbury.
