Eli Lilly heist suspect to be arraigned

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A man charged with stealing $80 million worth of prescription drugs in a 2010 warehouse heist was arraigned Thursday in New Haven.

Amed Villa has been charged for his role in the heist at Eli Lilly & Co. back in 2010. It's thought to be the largest robbery n Connecticut history.

Villa's plead not guilty at the arraignment.

Police say Villa and his brother, Amaury Villa, gained access to the warehouse by scaling a wall and cutting a hole in the roof.

Police announced the arrests in May.

The brothers were charged with one count of conspiracy to commit theft from an interstate shipment and four counts of theft from an interstate shipment.

Amaury Villa is being held in Florida where is facing possession and distribution charges connected to the Eli Lilly heist, as well as other charges in Florida. He will be prosecuted there first and will then be transported to Connecticut.
