Ex-head of Conn. housing project faces sentencing

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A woman who worked for years to build a housing complex for seriously ill children faces sentencing for misrepresenting how she spent an $836,000 federal grant.

Amy Kuhner, who headed the Sunshine House project in Madison, is scheduled to be sentenced Friday in federal court in Hartford.

Prosecutors say Kuhner, who now lives in Ohio, admitted to falsely stating that she spent $594,225 on architectural and engineering services.

They say she failed to mention spending almost $418,000 on salary and almost $23,000 on health insurance. The project since failed.

Her attorney says she's profoundly remorseful. He says the board approved her salary.

Duo Dickinson, who sat on the board, has said Kuhner thought she was spending the money properly. He called it a misunderstanding
