NORWICH, Conn. (AP) — A former pastor at a Haitian church in Norwich has been ordered held on $200,000 bail on sexual assault charges involving a 12-year-old girl.
Forty-nine-year-old Luckner Sylvain was arraigned Wednesday at Norwich Superior Court on charges including first-degree sexual assault, fourth-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor. His case was continued to May 14 at New London Superior Court.
Norwich police allege Sylvain, a former pastor at First Haitian Baptist Church, sexually assaulted the girl multiple times in 2006 and 2007. The church's pastor says Sylvain left the church in 2008 and hasn't been in contact.
Police say Sylvain fled to Haiti last December, but was captured and returned to Connecticut on Tuesday.
Sylvain hasn't entered pleas. It's not clear if he has a lawyer.
