HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut State Police say Oxford's former tax collector, who has been accused of theft, has been arrested on larceny and forgery charges.
Karen Guillet turned herself in to State Police in Southbury on Wednesday.
Police say she was the subject of a two-year investigation into accusations of larceny of more than $250,000 from the tax collector's office. She also is accused of fabricating bank deposit slips.
A phone listed in her name was not answered Wednesday. Her lawyer, Dominick Thomas, did not return a call Wednesday afternoon seeking comment.
Oxford is suing the 61-year-old Guillet to get back more than $670,000 it accuses her of misappropriating. She resigned in December 2009.
State police say she was released on $100,000 bond and is due to be arraigned Dec. 12 in Derby Superior Court.
