Fake gun brought to Madison school

MADISON, Conn. (WTNH) -- A 14-year-old student at Daniel Hand High School brought a fake gun to school Thursday.

Police were notified by administration Thursday morning that a student had possession of a fake firearm on school property.

The 14-year-old boy had shown the gun, which was an "Airsoft" style pistol, to other students on the school bus, police reported.

A student who saw the firearm contacted their parent, who notified the school, police said.

The student was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds, carrying a facsimile firearm, and breach of peace.

He was released to the custody of his parents.

The boy will appear at the Superior Court for Juvenile Matters in New Haven.
