Family argument leads to shots fired

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A family argument early Thanksgiving morning led to shots being fired and one many under arrest on multiple charges, police said.

Chad Mendes,  is charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm, threatening, reckless endangerment and breach of peace.

According to police, Mendes' father said he was woken up by his two sons arguing. When he confronted them, Chad showed a handgun. That's when his father kicked him out of the house.

Police say Chad Mendes went outside to the backyard and fired off three shots before leaving with his dog.

Officers found him walking along Ellsworth Ave. and questioned him. He denied firing a gun, but was arrested after officers found shell casings in the yard, police said.
