NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- The FBI has announced they are investigating a New Haven police sergeant for possible misconduct.
Jennifer Gondola was using her iPhone to record police officers arrest a man outside Pulse Nightclub on June 2. She was arrested after she refused to hand over her phone to a police officer. She says the officer was using excessive force.
"I told him it was my civil right to film and he told me he would need to review the tape," Gondola said. "I told him it wasn't evidence of the suspect doing a crime, it was police doing a crime."
As a result of her claims, police launched an internal investigation. Soon after, the FBI began its investigation into the same incident.
Police say there is no presumption of misconduct and they are awaiting the results of the reports.
No other details were released. Police say they will not answers questions surrounding Gondola's arrest until the conclusion of the investigation.
