New Haven, Conn. (WTNH) - A New Haven convenience store is once again the scene of a crime.
The owner of Gerry's Shell Food Mart on Willow Street says he's been targeted over 100 times in 30 years.
One employee, who asked to remain anonymous, says she's been through the routine, but this time it was odd. The thief said "give me the ******* money, only the large bills, only the large bills."
"I tell the employee when they come in, just give them the money," said Gerry Katz, the station's owner.
The suspect lead her to the counter with his gun.
She gave him the "big bills only" as demanded. Then, two witnesses in their car saw the suspect take off up the street.
The employee says she's been robbed five times in nine years.
"I love what I do, but I'm totally beat up," said Katz.
Katz says he's had employees tied up and shot. There's even a bullet hole from one of the incidents.
"Every single employee has had at one point, a gun to the head," Katz said.
Even with sixteen cameras, thieves keep coming back.
"I felt a difference with this robbery, as if he knew I recognized him or something," said the female employee. "You could tell by the face he was a smaller frame, maybe 165 or so. It was dark hair, black hair. He actually had the hair poking out of the hat, which was odd to me."
The employee says she feels this thief has targeted many other stores and she's determined to make sure that he's caught.
"It's sad they have to be that way," she said. "They're attacking innocent people who are working and struggling to raise their families."
Anyone with information is asked to call the New Haven Police.
