Grad student killed in market shooting

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (CTPost.com) -- A University of Bridgeport graduate student from Bangladesh who was shot inside a Fairfield Avenue market Tuesday night died of his wounds at Bridgeport Hospital, a hospital spokesman said Wednesday.

Moin Hassan, 22, is Bridgeport's 19th homicide victim of 2012. The city had 20 homicides in 2011.

Hassan had been shot in the chest while visiting a friend at Layla'sMarket at 1437 Fairfield Avenue, near Howard Avenue at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
