GREENWICH, Conn. (AP) — A 50-year-old Greenwich man faces state and federal firearms charges after police say they found machine guns in his home.
The latest state charges against Thomas Belluci were filed last week and a Stamford Superior Court judge on Monday scheduled a Nov. 11 hearing. Belluci is due in U.S. District Court in New Haven on Oct. 10.
The Greenwich Time reports the police investigation began last August when authorities responded to a report of shots fired behind Belluci's Cutler Road home.
According to the federal indictment, a subsequent search turned up three World War II-vintage German MP40 submachine guns, a Thompson M1A1 submachine gun, three Chinese copies of the popular AK-47 and a World War II U.S. M1/M2 carbine.
Belluci, reached at his home Tuesday morning, declined comment.
