STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) — A 24-year-old Greenwich man has been convicted of murder in a 2009 shooting that left a Norwalk gas station clerk dead.
The Greenwich Time reports Alain LeConte was convicted Wednesday of murder and robbery and faces up to 140 years in prison when he is sentenced on Nov. 21.
Prosecutors say LeConte shot Jose Joaquin Morales inside a Shell gas station on Oct. 10, 2009.
Investigators say Morales and patrons of the station were ordered to lie on the floor during the robbery. They say as he was leaving, LaConte turned and shot Morales.
An alleged co-defendant, Mustafa Jacobs, is awaiting trial on murder, robbery and conspiracy charges for his role in the shooting.
