HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A 62-year-old Hamden man was arrested on charges he held up a local package store.

Robert Gordneer, 62, is accused of robbing Wine Merchants, located at 2100 Dixwell Avenue, on August 1.

The store's clerk told police a man clad in dark clothing and a black ski mask walked into the store around 2 p.m. and demanded money. She believed he had a gun and handed over an undisclosed amount of cash. The man fled the scene in a car.

A few days later, police pulled over the car they suspected was used in the robbery. They then applied for an arrest warrant for Gordneer, who turned himself into Hamden police on Wednesday.

He has been charged with first degree robbery and second degree larceny. He was held on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on September 12.
