HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH)-- A Hartford man was arrested on weapons charges on Wednesday afternoon, after being pulled over by police.
Police say Jorge Marrero, 28, was stopped on Woodland Street at Gillett Street, at 1:47 PM, after police observed a motor vehicle violation. His car was being followed due to suspicious activity.
When asked by police if there were weapons in the car, Marrero answered yes.
In the backseat of the vehicle, there was a Bushmaster AR15 Rifle, a Mossberg 12 gauge shotgun, a Smith and Wesson .44 caliber revolver, and two 30 round .223 caliber magazines for the AR15 assault rifle, police said.
Police were conducting surveillance in the area of Sigourney Street, based on information involving firearm and narcotics activity.
Marrero was charged with possession of an assault weapon, criminal possession of a pistol, criminal possession firearm, and weapons in a vehicle.
His bond was set at $750,000.
