Hartford, Conn. (WTNH) - One person is dead and another is in critical condition after a fight broke out at a Hartford house party Friday night.
The incident occurred just before midnight at a three-family home, located at 366 Maple Ave.
Police responded to the address after receiving a report that 20 people were fighting in the street.
Police were told that there was a party in an apartment where a fight broke out and some guests were asked to leave. Then there was a second fight that broke out on the street involving two people.
Upon arrival police found one victim on the street unresponsive. The individual was taken to Hartford Hospital and later pronounced dead.
Police are considering the incident a homicide and said there was a witness to the crime: a girl celebrating her eleventh birthday.
"Something happened right there and they killed one guy," the girl said. "Umm one got injured and one died there. He got stabbed and my dad, in the morning, he found the knife over there and he brought it over here."
Police said a second victim who walked into Hartford Hospital suffering from stab wounds remains in critical condition.
The names of the victims have not yet been released.
The incident is under investigation.
