HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH)-- Hartford police are investigating an officer involved shooting after a suspect tried to flee and assault officers on Friday night.

Police say officers attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop around 10:22 PM, when the driver, Vincent Campbell, 24, of Hartford, refused to pull over and fled from police.

A short time later, Campbell crashed his car into a fence at the intersection of Arnold Street and Leger Street.

When officers approached the car on foot,  Campbell attempted to flee and directed his car at one of the officers. Police say as a result, an officer discharged two shots, which both impacted the vehicle.

Campbell was caught and arrested at 53 Pershing Street. He was charged with interfering with police, assault on police, possession of narcotics, criminal attempt to commit assault, as well as motor vehicle violations. His bond was set at $300,000.

Police ask anyone with information on this incident to contact them at 860-757-4463.
