Hung jury means new trial in murder

MILFORD, Conn. (CT Post) - One juror's refusal to budge led to a hung jury Friday morning in the trial of a man accused of kidnapping and murdering a suspected drug dealer here.

Other jurors said that the woman did not seem to have an open mind and said that she did not believe police or witness testimony in the trial of Javier Cruz-Falcon . Falcon had been charged with murder, kidnapping and conspiracy in the 2009 death of Jose Chevere, 28, of New Haven.

The suspect remains in custody on a $2 million bond. Court officials said that the case will be retried, but that it might take more than a year to be heard.

"I would happily serve on that (new) jury, for free,'' said Chris Ziko, a juror from Shelton. "It was so frustrating; it feels like we were not heard at all.''
