HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) - Police in Hamden are searching for a robbery suspect accused of holding up the Hamden Walmart Monday afternoon.
It's not your typical robber, and he didn't use a typical getaway car. Walmart officials say they are working closely with Hamden Police to solve the crime. The suspect made his getaway in a taxi cab, an unusual mode of escape.
Tom Hosen and Ali Kiran of Walmart tell News 8 what the police wanted to know.
"They asked me if I had seen an older black gentleman around 70 years old. About 6 feet tall. I was talking to a customer at the time and that was about it," says Hosen.
"I didn't see him, because no one stopped by here," says Kiran.
The elderly suspect is accused of stealing more than $2,000. Stealing money may have been a rarety in the past, but this Walmart may become a target for thieves in the future because they now cash checks inside.
