SOMERS, Conn. (WTNH) -- An inmate has died at Yale New Haven Hospital after he was assaulted at the Osborn Correctional Center in Somers.
State police say David Dube, 60, was assaulted by a fellow inmate in the main hallway of the facility around 9:30 p.m. Thursday night.
Police say Dube briefly lost consciousness and was transported to the UConn Medical Center to be treated. When his condition worsened, he was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital.
Dube was pronounced dead Friday afternoon. The state medical examiner will conduct a postmortem review to determine cause and manner of death.
Detectives from the state police major crime unit and troopers were called to the scene to investigate the incident.
The name of the other inmate is being withheld pending charges.
