VERNON, Conn. (WTNH) -- A convicted felon was arrested after police found drugs and a loaded gun on him during a traffic stop Friday.
The incident happened around 6:30 p.m. when police stopped a vehicle on West Street, near Ridgewood Drive for a red light violation that occurred at Route 30 and Bolton Rd.
During the stop, an officer could smell the odor of marijuana inside the vehicle. A small quantity of marijuana was then found during a search of the vehicle.
When looking inside the glove box, the officer found a loaded .38 caliber revolver.
The driver of the vehicle, 34-year-old Ryan May, of 33 Brooklyn St., Vernon, is a convicted felon.
May was charged with improper right on red, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, weapon in a motor vehicle, criminal possession of a firearm by a felon, and carrying a firearm without a permit.
Bond was set at $25,000.
