East Haddam, Conn. (WTNH) - A local musician, wanted on sex assault charges, was arrested in California Saturday after evading police for nearly two years.

On February 17, 2010, State Police received a complaint of a sexual assault of a juvenile. Police then obtained an arrest warrant for John P. McNally, 48, of 76 River Rd., East Haddam, for charges of first-degree sexual assault, two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault, and two count of risk of injury to a minor.

Police said McNally is also known by his stage name of Johnny Vibrato, of Johnny Vibrato and the Razorbacks, a local blues band.

McNally fled the state prior to the warrant being issued.

After investigating police discovered that McNally was living in Tustin, CA. State Police then contacted Tustin Police who were able to arrest McNally.

He is being held on $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear before a California judge on Monday concerning extradition to Connecticut.

McNally's arrest warrant will be served upon his return to the state.
