Man's charges upgraded to murder

Bristol, Conn. (WTNH) - A Waterbury man facing assault charges in the beating death of a Bristol man is now facing a felony murder charge.

Michael Guerrera, 20, is also facing kidnapping charges in connection to the death of 19-year old Dylan Sherman. He was arraigned on the new charges at Bristol Superior Court on Friday.

Sherman's body was found in a wooded area in Plymouth back in February.  Police say he had been hit in the back of the head with a bat with such force that pieces of his skull were "detached."

According to court records, Sherman was killed because he was suspected of stealing money from his ex-girlfriend's brother.

Four others have been arrested in connection with Sherman's death, including Guerrera's brother.
