Middlefield, Conn. (WTNH) - A Middlefield man has been arrested for a sexual assault committed in the early hours on Saturday.
State Police said that around 3 a.m. on Saturday they responded to a Middlefield residence where a sexual assault had been reported.
Shortly after arriving, police were able to locate a suspect a short distance from the victim's residence.
After investigating police determined that the suspect, 21-year-old Jeremy Murphy, of 39 Levesque Dr., had entered the victim's residence during the early morning hours and sexually assaulted the victim in her bedroom.
Murphy then fled the residence on foot, before being located by police.
Police said this does not appear to be a random act.
Murphy has been charged with home invasion, first-degree burglary, first-degree sexual assault, first-degree unlawful restraint, and risk of injury to a minor.
Murphy is being held by State Police Troop F on $500,000 bond.
He will be arraigned at Middletown Superior Court on Monday, November 28.
