VERNON, Conn. (WTNH) -- 31-year-old Danny Perry is in court because of a kidnapping charge, taking his wife's daughter, but the child's mother is not angry with him because she says that's not the true story.
"She loves him. And he loves her. How can you kidnap someone who's absolutely in love with you, and who you absolutely love back," Perry's wife said.
According to police, the whole drama started here at their Vernon apartment when Danny and his wife got in a fight, she hit him with a pillow and grabbed him in the groin. She was later arrested.
Danny, who had his wife's daughter with him, would later come to this Vernon apartment complex to try and speak with her but a court order prohibited the two to speak. Police say when his wife's friends refused to let him have contact, he drove off with the child.
"The child does not feel threatened by him," News 8's Jamie Muro asked.
"My daughter is in love with him. I had to bring my daughter to the doctor the other day, and the first thing out of her mouth was, "Mommy, where's Danny? I want Danny. I love him, I want my Danny. I have to go to the doctor, I want my Danny with me," Perry's wife said.
Danny was arrested in the parking lot of his employer, the Vernon Diner, with the child asleep in the back seat.
He's charged with kidnapping and is being held on a $100,000 bond.
His wife though is still seeking, hoping for a happy reunion.
"I just want to tell him I love him. I love him so much, and this is just one big miscommunication. I want him home, I want the kidnapping charged dropped and I want him home," Perry's wife said.
